This seminar concerns policy and planning approaches for providing improved community water and sanitation services in developed countries. Topics include: the choice of appropriate technology and level of service, pricing, metering, and connection charges; cost recovery and targeting subsidies to the poor; water venting; community participation in the management and operation of water systems; and rent-seeking behavior in the provision of water supplies. Permission of the instructor is required.
